Exploring identity and inequalities in health and social care at upcoming event

Leadership, identity and inequalities in health and social care will be discussed at the next Bristol Distinguished Address Series (BDAS) hosted by UWE Bristol in partnership with its Equity programme.
A diverse panel - drawing from creative practice, policy and community leadership - will explore how these perspectives intersect to build more inclusive care systems.
‘Thriving While Leading: Global Majority voices from health and care’ will take place on Wednesday 22 October at 18:00 at the Watershed and online.
This discussion will consider how collaboration and storytelling can challenge inequality and inspire structural change, with particular focus on amplifying underrepresented voices in health and social care.
The panel will include Corinne Walker, a Bristol-based writer, director, creative producer and performer. Her Arts Council funded play The Fight Well Project exploring the experience of black women in the healthcare system premiered in September 2024.
Also joining the panel is Sophie Chester-Glyn, director of Coproduce Care, a community interest company which aims to support the care sector to influence policy and law.
Finally, Councillor Lorraine Francis, a qualified social worker for over 35 years and a Green Party councillor representing the Eastville ward, will sit on the event panel. Lorraine is chair of the Bristol City Council’s Adult Social Care Committee.
BDAS provides an opportunity to hear unique perspectives and insights from change makers, activists, entrepreneurs, and people who have achieved amazing things in Bristol and beyond.
UWE Equity is a positive action coaching programme for Global Majority students providing personal and professional development opportunities.
