UWE Bristol has risen 26 places in the Guardian University Guide 2026 to 38.

The university is one of the top climbers in this year’s league table, driven by improved student satisfaction scores for quality of teaching and feedback on courses.

UWE Bristol has also retained its place as fourth in the south west region.

The Guardian University Guide ranks universities on factors such as satisfaction with teaching and feedback, course completion rates, and graduate outcomes.

At a subject level, UWE Bristol has seven subject areas ranked within the top 10 nationally. These include anatomy and physiology; paramedic science; geography; philosophy; graphic design; product design; and film production and photography. UWE Bristol’s anatomy and physiology subject area, which includes biomedical science, is ranked first in the UK of 26 universities.

Professor Sir Steve West, Vice-Chancellor at UWE Bristol said: “This is a really positive start to the new academic year. As well as the jump in the overall table, we’re pleased to see many of our subjects standing out among the best in the country. This significant climb in the rankings is down to the hard work and dedication of our staff members, external partners and students co-creating outstanding learning experiences.”
