When to use a copy section
We often use components such as image copy sections, small image copy sections and featured links to help guide the user through image-led design on the website. However, sometimes it is necessary to add additional text to a page without images by using a copy section component. Many of the page templates have in-built copy sections. However, if a page template does not contain any copy sections or you need more copy sections, then a copy section component can be used.
Copy sections are also useful if you need to add content to multiple pages. You can create a shared copy section component within the ‘shared’ folder.
How to use a copy section
Copy sections are designed to contain rich text. You can control the styling of the text in several ways, including:
- heading tags (H2, H3, H4 or H5)
- bullet points or numbered lists
- hyperlinks to internal or external pages
- call-to-action (CTA) buttons.
Notes on component usage
- Always check whether there is an empty copy section in the page template before creating a new copy section component.
- Avoid using images inside copy sections and where possible consider using an image copy section or small image copy section instead.
