Campus Card

UWE will be launching a new campus card for staff, student and visitors called UWE Card from end of June 2012. This new campus card will improve security and access throughout the main campuses. The replacement cards will improve access by operating a fully networked, contactless / proximity system of entry as well as offering the flexibility to add future functions (e.g. Catering, vending, student printing).

A programme of work to replace existing door locks across UWE sites will start at the end of June and this work is scheduled for completion early September 2012. A pilot is already underway with building 650 on the Bristol Business Park having already had its locks switched over and new cards produced. After Easter this pilot will be extended to include buildings 640 and 435 on the Business Park, Farmhouse and Emersons Green Reprographics.

Staff will receive their replacement UWE Card towards the end of June, with the card being sent to the home address that we hold for you. Staff who are based in the buildings where the pilot is taking place will receive their cards earlier as and when the locks to their building is changed over. Distribution to students will follow in September.

The UWE Card will replace your current card and will continue to provide the current functionality. However, until all work has been completed there will be a need to carry both old and new cards during this transition period.
