The exhibition was the result of a session spent at the museum handling English, Italian and Spanish tinglaze; English and German saltglaze; English slipware and Staffordshire flatbacks. Second year ceramics students and members of staff spent a very fruitful day with staff from the Department of Ceramics and Glass and with invited guests such as Kaffe Fassett, the textile designer.

The students were not to produce replicas but to make artefacts which drew more generally upon the processes and qualities of the pots which they had encountered.
