Funding for PhD study and research preparation masters

The 3D3 Centre for Doctoral Training is an AHRC-funded centre for doctoral training, a collaboration between the University of the West of England Bristol, Falmouth and Plymouth Universities. The Centre is offering both full-time and part-time AHRC-funded PhD studentships and 12 month full-time research preparation masters studentships with a focus on practice-led Design research.
The 3D3 Centre partners build on their commitment to fostering the highest level of innovation through practice-led research in the creative and performing arts, especially the interrelated fields of digital design, digital media and digital arts (including music and performance) in this exciting new initiative.  The Centre for Fine Print Research is delighted to be part of the 3D3 Centre for Doctoral Training and we are especially interested in applicants who wish to undertake doctoral research in our key research areas of 3D rapid prototyping, colour, 2.5D print, artists books and the role of materials and craft skills in the digital design arena. 3D3 Masters Studentships cover tuition fees and a stipend of £11500 for one year, they are available on two MA programmes affiliated with the Centre for Fine Print Research:

Value of Award
Recipients of an 3D3 PhD studentship will receive a full fee waiver and a maintenance allowance paid in quarterly instalments lasting three years. The value of the maintenance allowance provided will be based on the standard RCUK award rate for the year in which the candidate’s studies begin.
The current maintenance rate for awards beginning 2013-14 is £13,726 per year for a full-time student.

Application Procedure
Applications are now invited from candidates interested to pursue innovative research in all areas of Design offered by the three partner institutions - all applicants are advised to follow the application procedure below:
Step 1: Select an institution from the 3D3 partners to which you would like to apply
Falmouth UniversityPlymouth University and the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol)
Step 2: Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria
Step 3: Ensure that you are eligible to receive an award from the AHRC
In addition to checking the 3D3 eligibility requirements, all applicants must ensure they are eligible to receive funds from the AHRC.
Applicants are advised to read the ‘Terms and Conditions for Studentship Grants’ section of the AHRC Student Funding Guide.
Step 4: Make an application
Applicants will be asked to name the institution they have applied to in their application form.
Step 5:  Selected candidates will be interviewed the week commencing 19 May 2014
Step 6: Awards will be announced at the end of May 2014
The deadline for 3D3 funding applications is tbc in 2015.
