Feat of Clay is the latest in a series of exhibitions held at the V&A of work made by students, staff and friends from the Ceramics Department at the University of the West of England, Bristol. In December 2000 a group from the University went to the V&A and handled a range of English pots from Thomas Toft's slipwares of the late 17th century to mid 19th century creamwares. Between now and then they have been making work in response to these pots.

If you go to the History page you can find out lots more information about the exhibition and how it began.

This exhibition is being held in memory of Mike Hughes, (1942-2001). Mike started this series of exhibitions in the early 1990's, having established a link with the Victoria and Albert Museum and seen the enormous potential of allowing students and makers to come together to handle some of the museum's magnificent objects.

This exhibtion was jointly organised by the University of the West of England, Bristol and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
