Other music lessons and masterclasses
We normally offer hugely subsidised mini courses in a variety of instruments, and free mini courses in DJing. These sessions aren't currently running due to coronavirus but we hope to start them again in 2021.
Piano four-week mini course
Our piano mini course is taught in small groups of three to eight in our specially designed Keyboard Lab. Work on our fully weighted digital pianos with headphones and receive one-to-one coaching as you practise.
Lessons last 30 minutes and are taught by Alison Howell, Associate Lecturer, outstanding keyboardist and professional musician.
Dates and times
Piano courses run on Tuesdays at either 14:00-14:30 or 14:30-15:00 at The Centre for Music.
Cost: currently £10 to members

45-minute and 60-minute slots are available on Mondays between 14:00-17:00. Lessons must be booked at least seven days in advance and are taught by Judit Soler-Almendros.

Guitar four-week mini course
Our guitar mini course, for both acoustic and electric guitar, is taught in small groups of two to five. We will supply instruments but bring your own if you wish.
Lessons last 60 minutes and are taught by professional musician and tutor Ash Tucker from Mobile Guitar Tuition.

Guitar courses run on Mondays at either 15:00-16:00 (beginners) or 16:00-17:00 (intermediate/advanced) at The Centre for Music.

Lessons last 60 minutes and are taught by professional musician AJ Rousell – author of 'The Drummer’s Odyssey'.
Courses run on Thursdays at either 11:00-12:00 (beginners) or 12:00-13:00 (intermediate/advanced) at The Centre for Music.

Vocals four-week mini course
Mini courses for the voice are taught in small groups of two to five, especially suited to pop and rock vocals with a focus on improving breathing, pitch, voice production and expression. Lessons, which last for 50 minutes, are taught by experienced choir leader and vocalist Kim Samuels.
Courses run on Wednesdays at 14:00 at The Centre for Music.

Revinyl DJing - four-week mini courses
These four week mini courses in DJing are run in partnership with Centre for Music by Bristol-based music collective Revinyl.
The friendly and experienced Revinyl team can offer help and guidance to everyone from complete beginners to established DJs.
You can enjoy hands on sessions from the start and Serato will be available for use some weeks. If you are not familiar with Serato the team will be happy to introduce you to this invaluable DJing software.
Our high-spec DJ booth is fully equipped with two Pioneer XDJs, laptop with traktor and controller to allow access to vinyl, USB or external hard drive.

The Revinyl mini courses run on Wednesdays between 12:00-14:00 in the Centre for Music, DJ Room.
