Northshore College of Business and Technology

In partnership with UWE Bristol, Northshore College of Business and Technology in Sri Lanka was approved to deliver UWE Bristol courses between 2012 and 2021.

About

Founded in 2010, Northshore College of Business and Technology provide quality higher education programmes in a variety of subject areas.

In 2018, UWE Bristol and Northshore College of Business Technology mutually agreed to conclude its partnership arrangement and follow new strategic directions. Both parties committed to ensure that all students studying approved partnership courses were provided reasonable opportunity to complete their studies. The final partnership students completed in 2021.

Students that completed an approved UWE Bristol partnership course at Northshore College of Business and Technology received a degree from UWE Bristol. 

Award documentation was issued by UWE Bristol. It included a Certificate of Award confirming the classification outcome and a Certificate of Credit confirming the modules students completed as part of their approved partnership course along with the overall mark achieved for each module. 

As the degree awarding body, UWE Bristol applied the same expectation of quality and standards to the courses delivered at Northshore College of Business and Technology as it does to courses that are delivered in the UK.

UWE Bristol seeks professional accreditation for a number of its courses. This is not automatically applicable to courses that are approved for delivery at partnerships. Students that completed a UWE Bristol course at Northshore College of Business and Technology need to make independent applications to the relevant accrediting bodies in Sri Lanka.

Summary of accreditation of UWE Bristol awards delivered at Northshore College

The following is the current position of UWE Bristol awards delivered at Northshore College regarding their professional accreditation with the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL).

MEng Civil Engineering

Graduates with the MEng Civil Engineering can apply by individual application to the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) for Associate Membership, which would fulfil the academic requirement for CEng status. 

BEng Civil Engineering

Graduates with BEng Civil Engineering are not eligible for Associate Membership. They can apply, by individual application, to the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) for Affiliate Membership.

MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Graduates with the MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering can apply by individual application to Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) for Associate Membership, which would fulfil the academic requirement for CEng status.

BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Graduates with BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering are not eligible for Associate Membership. However, they can apply by individual application to Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) for Affiliate Membership.

BEng graduates will be required to take and pass additional modules as identified by IESL based on their performances at BEng to obtain the Affiliate Membership.

MEng graduates will be required to take and pass additional (either two or three) modules as identified by IESL base on their performances at MEng to obtain the Associate Membership.

To make the application, graduates should apply directly to IESL. They will need to have original copies of their certificate of award (degree certificate), certificate of credit (transcript) from UWE Bristol and a certified copy of the final year individual project report. Certification, in the form of a stamp and signature by the Academic Registrar can be provided at Northshore College, for final year individual project reports as submitted for assessment.
