This apprenticeship is designed for those who are keen to further their engineering career by gaining a postgraduate professional qualification, but who wish to remain in the workplace.
The Postgraduate Engineer Degree Apprenticeship will allow you to build business-related competencies ranging from personal reflection and development through to strategic, tactical and operational skills – all while continuing to contribute to your organisation.
Postgraduate Engineers develop innovative, creative solutions to engineering problems using new or existing technologies. This programme will provide you with the strong, current academic foundation you’ll need to tackle a range of challenges based on real-life scenarios.
This two-year programme will be delivered in week-long blocks, each covering two modules. Learners will study three core modules and three optional modules.
Outside of the taught modules, students will be able to stay in touch with tutors and raise any questions and issues through weekly webinars.
The optional modules listed are those that are most likely to be available, but they may be subject to change.
- Professional and personal development: reflection on your career to date and your future development in the sector to be prepared for an ever-changing business and global environment.
- Strategic understanding of the sector and how this is then translated into operations.
- Community and Service Responsibilities.
- Project and programme management.
- Lean engineering and its impact across the business.
- Management of Business Systems.
- Technical project management.
- Lessons learned and how to implement them in the future.
Assessment takes a variety of forms, including coursework, presentations and examinations. Students will also keep an ongoing professional development portfolio.

Successful learners will qualify with the Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Competence. The programme has been designed to prepare you for professional recognition, such as Chartered Registration.
Applicants are subject to UWE Bristol’s standard entry requirements before acceptance is approved.
Typically applicants will need to hold an existing 2:2 degree or equivalent, however applicants not holding a relevant degree but with significant work experience in an appropriate setting will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

There is funding available to sponsor employees’ professional development on degree apprenticeships. We will work with your employer directly to manage your application.
