Take control of your career

Studying at UWE can help you develop your existing career or take a new direction.
New opportunities
If you find that your employment choices are restricted by your current qualifications or that you want to make a change from your current role, then studying at UWE could be the first step to pointing your career in the direction you want to go. Many of our courses are focused on preparing students for a specific career such as health care, accounting, law or IT. Taking one of our short courses, or entering undergraduate or postgraduate studies will give you the skills to open up new employment opportunities.
I was working in industry before coming to UWE and I realised that if I wanted to progress and expand my career prospects, I needed to have a PhD. Bevan Cumbes, PhD in Medical Microbiology |
Continuing professional development
Even if you have experience or a qualification relevant to the field in which you work, ongoing career development often demands deeper knowledge and skills. As your career progresses you might also need to specialise in a particular professional area. Additional study at UWE can build on your existing skills, giving you the boost you need to take the next step along your career path and increase your earning potential.
Professional recognition
If you wish to practise in some fields it is necessary to join a professional body which requires you to have an accredited degree plus relevant experience. Many of our courses are accredited by professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Even in those careers where an accredited degree is not a formal requirement, the right qualification can give potential employers the confidence that you have the right knowledge and skills for the job.
