Finding time for study

With a range of learning options available, your studies can fit around you
Flexible options
Finding time for study in addition to your career can be hard but we offer a range of options to make it easier. Many of our courses have a part-time option, giving you time to work alongside your studies. A large number of our postgraduate programmes are now modular, allowing you to accumulate credit for each section you complete and to choose the award that best suits you in terms of time and means.
Distance learning
UWE struck me as a friendly university and also offered me the option of studying the MA using distance learning. Julian Wood, MA Translation (distance learning) |
In addition to part-time and modular study, some of our courses can be taken through distance learning. For example, our Faculty of the Built Environment offers flexible learning in context (FLIC) with 'bite size' modules available over the internet for people who don't want to go on a full degree course.
Your experience counts
Within University regulations it is also possible to claim credit for previous study (Accredited Learning or AL) or career experience (Accredited Experiential Learning or AEL) at postgraduate level. Many students find that full use of AL and AEL, and the flexibility in length of study and attendance requirements, enable them to complete a programme while earning the means to finance it.
Accessible learning
To ease the pressure on busy student lifestyles, we are investing heavily in the potential of ICT for learning tailored around your needs. Our virtual learning environment, UWE Online, is one of the most extensive available giving you web access to lecture notes and teaching materials, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
24 hour library
The best thing about the course is the state of the art equipment and the 24 hour access to one of the main libraries. Fuapepe Fesili, MA Film and Video |
Our library, one of the largest in the South West, is open 24 hours a day during term time giving access to a wealth of resources. Electronic journals and the Library Catalogue are available via any computer with Internet access, so you can search for information or reserve and renew books wherever you are day or night.
Between online facilities and accessible courses we’re working to make it as easy as possible for you to find time for your studies
