Centre for Sport

The Centre for Sport on Frenchay Campus includes a large main hall with a wooden sprung floor and two glass back squash courts. The hall has court markings for a variety of sports including, badminton, basketball, netball, 5-a-side football, volleyball and indoor hockey. The 70 station fitness suite with state of the art resistance and cardiovascular training machines means that you can enjoy your specific workout at a fraction of the cost of a private gym. We can provide personalised programmes on request from qualified advisers who offer expert guidance. The centre also hosts a new ‘free weight’ area providing a fully integrated fitness facility. There are fitness instructors on hand to provide you with training advice throughout the day. The centre has an aerobics studio that hosts a variety of exercise classes to suit all tastes. Details are available on line or from the Sports Centre reception. The adjacent all-weather pitch can be booked for one off recreational sessions or block booked for team training or fixtures. Car Parking

Car Parking Map

Frenchay Campus Map (Centre for Sport and Wallscourt Farm Gym)

The Centre for Sport at the University of the West of England has seen a significant increase in the requirement for car parking space at peak periods. These periods include after 4pm weekdays and all day on the weekends. We have a limited car parking capacity directly adjacent to the centre and we are now often reaching this capacity.

We understand that car parking is causing some frustration particularly on a Saturday when we have Avon Netball, 2 partner hockey clubs and also our own gym users parking at the centre. We are committed to resolving the frustration and have sourced additional parking for both home and visiting teams for the 09/10 year;

1)    NO PARKING is permitted in the Centre for Sport car park at WEEKENDS for large event bookings (such as England Table Tennis, Badminton), one off events, and then netball and hockey bookings (we need to save these for the Centre's gym members). The university has purchased HP land behind the astro pitch which includes extensive car parking adjacent to our all weather pitch. Please click on the attached to show where you are able to park. Its easy to walk through towards the Centre.

2)    Please if possible try to car share.

3)   As you are parking in alternative car park, bags, kit and equipment can be unloaded at the Centre for Sport to prevent you carrying large and heavy kit. Please give yourself plenty of time to drop off and then go and park over in the new car park.

4)   Please can you also not park in the disabled parking bays as we do have disabled members using the Centre.

5) Students are  not permitted to park in the car park, again hopefully this will free space up for our members/users of the Centre. If they are caught parking then they will be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
