PROJECTS & NETWORKS
PLaCE originated in 1998 as a discourse centre that brought together a diverse group of staff and higher degree students with research into contextual fine art practice as their common denominator. Through joint and individual projects, practice-based colloquia and symposia, members of the centre have examined the role and value of public, performative and site-specific art, and have explored the ways in which memory and national identity are formed and critiqued through a wide range of visual media, exhibitions, commissions and published works.
