Submission deadline for CGIV2012 extended

The deadline of CGIV2012 has been postponed by 2 weeks. Also, the minimum page number is reduced to 3. You can upload your paper with a length between 3-6 pages at: www.imaging.org/ist/newpapers/2012cgiv/authors/authform.cfm.

SDC Silver Medal awarded to Dr Vien Cheung

At their Day of Celebration in Bradford in early May, the Society of Dyers and Colourists (www.sdc.org.uk) presented Dr Vien Cheung, from the School of Design, University of Leeds, with the Silver Medal for her contribution to education, the Society and in the

“Color semiotics: everyone is talking about it these days, but where can we find a certain rule or framework which defines it?”
Maryam M. Darrodi – a PhD student under the supervision of Professor Stephen Westland in the School of Design at University of Leeds – is working in the area of colour semiotics. Newton Award, the Colour Group of Great Britain call for nominations

Newton Medal for 2012

The Colour Group of Great Britain are inviting nominations for the award of the Newton Medal – which could be regarded as an award in recognition of lifetime achievement in the field of colour science – for 2012. The Medal has been awarded approximately every two years since 1963. The first recipient was Prof W D Wright: the most recent was Prof Janos Schanda in 2010.
You are invited to nominate the next recipient of the Medal in 2012. The nomination should take the form of a short (150-250) word citation that should be submitted to Andrew Stockman at a.stockman@ucl.ac.uk by 30th September 2011. Please do not inform the person you nominate – for the time being that must be kept secret!
