Verity Lewis

Digital Print Intern at the CFPR

Verity is currently studying a part time degree in Graphic Design at University of the West of England where she also works part time as an Executive Officer within the Faculty of Creative Arts, Humanities and Education.

Before working at UWE Verity was employed as a photography and studio assistant for a small photographic company in London. During this period Verity worked for clients such as Beggars Banquet, EMI, Warner, V2, Penguin, HHCL, RKCR-Y&R, Saatchi and Saatchi, 4AD and on campaigns for ITV, The Streets, Toblerone, Herbal Essences and Cobra Beer. This experience with the photographic image alongside Verity’s current study in graphic communication has led her to develop an interest in the printed artefact (see above images).

Prior to embarking on the Digital Print Internship Verity assisted the CFPR with the preparations for the IMPACT 6 (International Printmaking Conference) and has contributed to the development of the CFPR website. Verity’s web based activities subsequently led her to being commissioned by the CFPR to design and build the Flick-Flip-Flick project website hosted by the CFPR. Verity also built and updates the PLaCE research centres website and is part of the faculty’s web team.

Collectively Verity’s enthusiasm, experience with graphic tools and keenness to develop her skills and knowledge has made her a perfect candidate for an internship at the CFPR. As part of the internship Verity will be working across the CFPR’s digital print departments, these will include; wide format digital print, laser cutting and rapid prototyping. Verity will be encouraged to develop her knowledge base and skill sets by working alongside the centre’s research members - and across a range of different projects and activities. Some of these activities will include learning digital print production methods, assisting with CPD courses and editioning practices. These practical contributions will also be transfered toward Verity’s own practice in print and Graphic Design studies.

To compliment the internship activity Verity has set up a blog to document and reflect upon her role within the CFPR : http://veritylewis.blogspot.com
