Dr Peter Walters: Design at the intersection of Smart materialsand 3D printing

This Presentation will show practical examples of research into the application of smart shape-changing materials and 3D printing technologies undertaken at the CFPR, UWE Bristol. Research takes place through creative collaboration between specialists in disciplines including design, robotics and 3D printing. Practical to be presented will include the development of a tentacle- like 'smart puppet; with flex sensor controller. Methods and materials used will be discussed along with future expectations and implications of smart materials and 3d printing within creative design
