Kirstie Little

Laser Cutting Intern at the CFPR

katie vaughan

Kirstie’s work is centred around her fascination with line, repetition and the subtle visual phenomenon of the moiré effect. Using pattern and layering she creates work that shifts and distorts according to the position of the viewer.  By using reflective materials, reality and it’s re-presentation converge to confuse your perception of space and depth.  Passing the work, it reconfigures and moves with you.  Participant rather than spectator, each will have their own unique encounter, as the work will be experienced differently according to subtleties in light speed and motion.

She is a designer with a passion for pattern, materials and technology.  Her experiences have afforded her the opportunity to experiment with a range of concepts that explore the relationship between design and architecture.  She is fascinated by the potential of ‘line’ and repetition. Combining this with a love of materials and her desire to involve technology has resulted in prototype methods for applying pattern to architecture.

Kirstie graduated from her degree in Design: Process, Material, Context at Bower Ashton in 2011 and recently exhibited her work at New Designers 2011 in London and at the Oslo Architecture festival for the NAL, showing a prototype for a façade system. She is now working on building up her portfolio and preparing for an exhibition in May 2012.  As part of her internship she is working alongside Tom Sowden in the CFPR  Laser Cutting Bureau developing and improving her existing skills.
