Staff at the Centre for Fine Print Research (CFPR)
The Centre’s research staff reflect the expertise required to fulfil the broad sweep of its field of investigation. Although the majority of its research stems from print related concepts, the rapid development in digital technology continues to open up new vistas of investigation. To cover this territory its staff, under the Directorship of Hewlett Packard Professor Stephen Hoskins, hold both practical and theoretical expertise in subjects including printing, photography, book arts, colour science, ceramics, enamelling and textiles.
You can now access all our current staff research outputs on the new UWE research repository: https://eprints.uwe.ac.uk/
The CFPR is formally responsible to a management committee - management committee members.
Much of the Centre's purely print related research revolves around the transition of analogue based practice into digital based practice for artists. This prominently includes the use of wide format printing and has gained substantial support from Hewlett Packard / Compaq and HP Invent programmes in the form of funding and collaboration.
Two Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) schemes have also been generated through the Centres work, with one receiving a DTI award for the best application of knowledge in December 2003. The purpose built research centre also provides research posts for MPhil and PhD students and has a consistent record of successful completions.
