Instructors: Paul Laidler, Tom Sowden and Verity Lewis
The Inkjet and Laser Cutting for Arts and Crafts CPD provided a three-day workshop that focused upon the integration of ink jet and laser cutting within the sphere of printmaking. The workshop included digital file preparation using both bitmap and vector based imagery, substrate considerations and the rendering potential of digital files using for inkjet and laser cutting technology.
During the first day participants were introduced to the facilities and shown a range of examples from previous CFPR laser cutting and ink jet print related projects . A series of technical demonstrations were presented followed by a discussion period enabling each participant to present a project for the remainder of the course. The second and third days functioned as an open workshop allowing the group to work on individual tasks with technical guidance from the workshop demonstrators.
The course attracted a wide range of participants from a variety of backgrounds including professional printmakers, photographers, postgraduate students and university lecturers. Delegates traveled from as far a field as Norway.
