The Digital Print and Laser Cutting CPD
Continuing Professional Development
Date: 22nd & 23rd October 2009Venue: CFPR, UWE Bristol
Instructors: Paul Laidler & Tom Sowden
The Digital Print and Laser Cutting CPD provided a two-day workshop that focused upon the integration of ink jet and laser cutting within the sphere of printmaking. The workshop included digital file preparation using both bitmap and vector based imagery, substrate considerations and the rendering potential of digital files using laser cutting technology.
During the first day participants were introduced to the facilities and shown a range of examples from previous CFPR laser cutting and ink jet print related projects . A series of technical demonstrations were presented followed by a discussion period enabling each participant to present a project for the remainder of the course. The second day functioned as an open workshop allowing the group to work on individual tasks with technical guidance from the workshop demonstrators.
The participants ranged from students, technical assistants, lecturers and artists. Each were keen to advance their technical understanding of the processes and take advantage of the potential to produce their own work using the cutting edge facilities and experienced technical assistance.
