CFPR 'Open Doors' 2011
event: cfpr open doors 2011
venue: cfpr studios, uwe bower ashton campus, bs3 2jt
dates: 1-5pm, friday 18 november
The Autumn 2011 'Open Doors' afternoon was an opportunity for industry professionals, artists and those working in education to learn more about the CFPR. We had a great turn out with visitors from Cameron Balloons, Hewlett Packard, Burgess-Salmon, Bristol City Council, London Printmakers, Forum for the Future, Bristol University, Bath Spa, and a variety of independant artists. Visitors were given a guided tour of our studios: 3D and Rapid Prototyping, Wide Format Printing and the Creative Colour Lab, Laser Cutting and Artists' Books, and an introductory talk from the lead researcher in each area, followed by an informal session for further questions.
There were also short presentations of recent work by Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associates Lee Hamilton (Dycem Ltd.), and Sophie Adams-Foster (Renishaw Plc.).
The event aimed to disseminate information about our current research projects, which include KTP’s with Renishaw and Dycem, an AHRC funded grant with Denby Pottery to prove the commercial viability of 3D printed ceramic bodies as a design tool, and the use of printable UV, thermo and solar receptive pigments for wallpaper and textiles. It also sought to initiate new collaborations and relationships, and to strengthen existing links.
Thank you to everyone who attended and made the event such a success.
