Carolyn Bunt’s prints, produced in residence at the CFPR, have been selected for inclusion in the prestigious Jerwood Encounters: Surface Noise, 19 January – 27 February 2011.

Gill Saunders, senior curator of prints at the V&A and John Mackechnie, director of Glasgow Print Studio, have curated an exhibition of ambitious and inspirational works which embrace innovations afforded by both digital technologies and traditional print media. Surface Noise aims to confront and overturn the pejorative associations and preconceived ideas that often define print. At a time when printmaking is attracting considerable attention this exhibition, the tenth in the Jerwood Encounters series, offers a welcome platform to showcase new works which incorporate print in original and unconventional ways.

As part of the CFPR's research into the production of fine art prints, research associate Paul Laidler has been working with artists to produce limited editions of prints. Carolyn Bunt's work had previously been produced using the lambda print process. These prints produced over a two day period at the CFPR assessed the qualities of the digital image in relation to selection of substrate, printer device and scale. The final work was originally exhibited at the Zoo 2009 Art Fair London and Carolyn is represented by the ROOM Gallery.

The prints were produced at the CFPR, and a limited number are available for sale individually, please contact the CFPR on 0117 3285864 for further information.
