Carol enjoyed the decorative techniques of the 17th century, and particularly liked the feathering pattern on the slipware plate because, 'it reminded me of a bakewell tart'. She has been experimenting with different ways of using coloured slips, aiming for lightness and delicacy and a more contemporary feel in the use of colour.
