Environmental Information
- As at October 2011 University West of England (UWE) had Over 1200
Printers and MFPs;
- Thats 1 printer for every 1.9 members of staff
- A single sheet from 120 of them costs over £1 per page
- UWE uses 53.1 Million sheets of paper each year;
- Thats 17,000 trees.
- Thats nearly 20% of all the trees in bristols green spaces every
year.

- Large Volumes of print is never collected from printers
- Inkjet devices cost 10 more than Laser devices
To improve the sustainability of the way in which UWE prints, a number
of ke changes have been agreed
- Make the majority of devices duplex.
- Make duplex printing the default.
- Make colour printing widely available
- Make all printers default to black and white
- Newer devices are more energy efficient and use ink better so so should
be the preference. However this must be balanced against the cost of
using a pre-purchased device from storage.
