Language skills

We have a wide range of English language support options to bring students up to the level required at UWE. This includes pre-sessional English courses and ongoing support once you start your studies. Workshops and drop in sessions covering use of English for academic purposes are available as well as more formal programmes.

The Academic Writing, Communication and English Language Skills (ACES) programme offers a range of activities for international students in academic writing, communication and English language skills. They provide courses, workshops, consultations and drop-in sessions to meet individual language and communication needs.

Some ACES courses are also available to any student (including EU and native English speakers).  These help to develop the use of academic English in study at UWE including: seminars, presentations, written assignments and dissertations, reading academic papers.
