Information and research skills

The iSkillZone is a multimedia interactive resource providing information to all UWE students and staff on how to find, access and locate information in the library and beyond. This would include journals, journal articles and books, electronic or in print.

The iSkillZone has sections on:

• referencing and plagiarism
• copyright
• researching and writing a literature review

The library runs a range of workshops on finding, using and referencing material for coursework. Sign up on the library website.

The Research Observatory (RO) online research teaching and learning resource is intended to help researchers in particular, find appropriate learning materials to help you in your research studies. The RO does not take any particular stance on research and does not claim to say what UWE's view or policy is on any aspect of research.

Research approaches and methods vary greatly, and individual tutors and students will have their own views and preferences. The materials here are for information and to provoke thought.

In addition to the research skills development offered by individual Faculties/Departments, Research Business and Innovation (RBI) offers a broad programme of events running throughout the year to support the development of postgraduate research skills.

The LearnHigher website includes information and activities to help students develop their understanding of research. This includes data handling skills such as data collection and analysis.
