Gateways are websites which contain links to other webpages. They usually impose some form of organisation and quality control on these links, dividing them by subject area.

  • Best for Business.
    BestforBusiness is maintained by Business Insight, at the Central Library in Birmingham. It aims to help businesses, business advisors and libraries by giving them access to the best free business information on the web, using the extensive knowledge of resources held by the Public library community. To access the links, select the link to 'Agency Online Services' or 'Business Returns Portal' from the menu on the left hand side of the page.
  • Biz/ed.
    This website provides a gateway to evaluated internet resources for business, management and economics.
  • British Library: Business Collections.
    Details of the business resources held at the British Library, with links to freely available external resources.
  • BUBL LINK.
    A catalogue of selected Internet resources covering all academic subject areas and catalogued according to DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification). All items are selected, evaluated, catalogued and described. Links are checked and fixed each month.
  • RBA: Business Information on the Internet.
    A selection of internet sites gathered by one of the UK's leading Business Information Specialists, Karen Blakeman. The sites are evaluated and categorised.
  • Intute.
    Intute is a freely available Internet service which aims to provide a trusted source of selected, high quality Internet information for education and research in the social sciences, business and law.

  • Yahoo: Business and Economy.
    The business and economy section of Yahoo UK has many relevant sources of information.

Search Engines.

  • A Collection of Special Search Engines.
    This business collection is provided by the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. There are other special collections available which can be selected from the menu.
  • Google.
    Google is one of the most comprehensive search engines on the Internet. The advanced search allows you to combine search terms, use phrases and select your language. It has a facility for searching within news pages only.

    Search Engines Worldwide is a list of global and local search engines sorted by countries in the world. Search Engines Worldwide is one of the largest collection of search engines on the internet.
