'The demands of paid work and study often seem to conflict'
- Work through 'Managing time' in Time
management, giving particular thought to priorities and using your
time effectively.
- Have you worked out your finances on a weekly or monthly basis so
that you're clear how much money you need to earn? Perhaps you can afford
to work fewer hours?
- Look at Student Services Money pages.
- If you're experiencing ongoing difficulties with finance, UWE's Student
Advice and Welfare Service at the Student Services Department can
advise you on hardship grants and related matters.
- Is your employer unsympathetic to the demands you face as a student?
Remember that UWE
Students' Union Job Shop advertises vacancies from employers who
are interested in recruiting students.
You may find that better assertiveness skills enable you to discuss
your position more effectively with an employer. Counselling and Psychological Services periodically runs workshops on assertiveness.
