Working in a group

You're required to work in a group on a number of occasions in the course of your studies. Whether this is for a brief or extended period of time, the basic guidance for effective working is the same.

Follow this guidance in as much detail as is appropriate for your situation:

Why you're required to work in a group
  • how group-working can develop key co-operative skills
When you're required to work in a group

How to work in a group
  • the task, the team, and your individual role
  • includes suggestions for when things go wrong

NB Throughout this Study Skills unit, the terms 'team' and 'group' are used interchangeably to denote situations where two or more people work interdependently to achieve a common goal or task.

This resource is adapted from materials originally created by Bristol Business School.
