The four AULIC institutions are characterised by different academic strengths which are reflected in their library collections. Together, these collections can provide a rich resource covering a very wide range of disciplines. This is a real advantage at a time of growing interdisciplinarity in teaching and of broadening research interests. It is simply no longer possible for any single university library to collect everything needed by its academic and research staff.
