Types of interruptions

1. Weekly At Risk periods

NOTE: ‘Weekly At Risk Periods’ take place Tuesday mornings between 07:00 and 10:00, and Friday evenings between 16:00 and 19:00. We continue to use the at risk periods on a Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon to minimise long term outages and carry out upgrades and essential works.

2. Maintenance Weekends (Shutdown!)

Please see below for further information on Shutdown weekends. How will it affect you?

A week prior to each shutdown, logon messages for staff and students will be displayed as applicable.

3. ISIS2 releases

The next ISIS release is due to take place on Tuesday 29 May 2012.

The release will take place during the ITS at risk period, between 07:00 – 10:00.

ISIS will be unavailable from 07:00 and we hope to have it available again by approximately 09:00.

We will email to confirm when staff are able to log in.

Information

Weekly At Risk Periods

During these times the overall IT system will operate as normal. However, particular services or portions of the network may be taken out of service so that security patches, operating system upgrades and bug fixes can be applied.

ISIS2 Software Releases

The ISIS team will inform the user community as soon as a release date is planned. Release dates will also be publish here on this web page.

Maintenance Weekends

    During the shutdown weekends, there will be no centrally managed IT service. This includes ALL the IT services such as:-

The services affecting students and staff:-

    • Blackboard
    • Electronic Library Databases and Services
    • E-mail systems (including UWE Live Mail and Microsoft Outlook)
    • myUWE (portal)
    • NetPlus
    • UWE External Access Services (XA)
    • UWE network (LAN/MAN)
    • Web
    • Windows 2000 or Windows XP, Windows NT

The services affecting students only:-

    • Cyberspace kiosks
    • ResNet
    • 24-hour PC Lab in room 2B017 on Frenchay Campus

The services affecting staff only:-

    • Agresso
    • Business Objects (Business Intelligence)
    • Central Audio Visual Services
    • ISIS2
    • Kinetics
    • SharePoint
    • SITS –Admit
    • Telephones
