ResNet Safari Proxy Settings on MAC OSX Snow Leopard

These instrcutions cover the connection of an Apple Mac with OSX Snow Leopard to the Residential network

To enable secure web pages such as Facebook and Hotmail on your Mac using the Safari web browser you will need to configure your proxy settings

Click the Apple in the top left corner and select System Preferences

Click the Network icon

Cnetwork

Click the Location drop down box and select Edit Locations.

Create a new location called ResNet by clicking the + symbol

Click done

Select Ethernet from the left hand pane and click Advanced

Select the Proxies tab and tick the Auto Proxy Discovery check box. Now tick the Automatic Proxy Configuration check box and in the Proxy Configuration File field enter http://www.uwe.ac.uk/proxy.pac

Tick the Web Proxy (HTTP) check box and in the Web Proxy Server Field enter proxysg.uwe.ac.uk and in the port field add 8080. Do the same for the Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS) check box and in the Web Proxy Field enter proxysg.uwe.ac.uk and in the port field add 8080.

Click OK

Click Apply

Login to ResNet

Open Safari and accept the certificate by clicking Continue

In the Registered Users box enter your network User Name and Password and tick to accept the terms and conditions and click Log In

You are now logged in to the ResNet network.
