Why can't I print from Windows based applications (Office, Internet Explorer, etc…) anymore?

  • Check that there is paper in the printer.
  • Check that the printer is On Line.
  • Make sure that the cable going from the printer to the network socket on the wall is plugged in properly, or if the printer is a local printer, make sure that the cable going between the printer and your PC is connected properly.
  • Go through the start menu as follows: Start -> Settings -> Printers or Start -> Printers
  • If the only thing showing is Add printer then you need to call the IT Support Centre who will put your printers back again.
  • If there are printers showing up in the Start menu, click on them to show the print queue. If there are a lot of print jobs waiting for a printer then the job at the top will show status messages from the printer. These may help you to identify the problem. Otherwise, please call the IT Support Centre.
