Blackboard
Blackboard - Virtual Learning Environment
Blackboard is an application that makes use of Internet technology to provide a platform for teaching via the web. These type of applications are generally known as 'virtual learning environments' or 'VLE's'; they offer password-based access to learning resources in an 'anywhere, any time' context, while allowing the tutor ultimate control over the availability of materials within a course.
Because Blackboard is designed for the use of tutors and students, not computer programmers or IT specialists, the creation of web-based courses in Blackboard does not demand a high level of IT expertise or experience. Basic functions such as uploading information on the web, creating online tests or communicating with groups of students using discussion boards, can be set up relatively quickly and easily, or switched off when not required.
All staff and students can access Blackboard through the myUWE portal. Login into myUWE portal
