Student H Drive Archiving
This evening on Wednesday 16th March 2011, IT Services will proceed to archiving students’ H: drives. Files that qualify for archiving are currently those that have not been modified in over 3 months.
These files will still be available online, although recovery times may be a few seconds rather than sub-seconds.
When a file has been migrated to the Archive, its icon is changed to include a small black clock in the bottom left corner. The following example shows the first and third files as having been moved to the Archive. They can be opened and manipulated in the normal manner associated with the type of file they are.
The Windows 7 users will see this icon when the file is archived:
