SMS texting at UWE

Message for current students only

This month, the University introduced a new SMS texting system. It is to be used exclusively by your faculty (and occasionally by Student Services) to send you useful and timely information about your studies whilst at UWE.

This system is not to be used as a marketing tool but merely as an additional tool to keep you informed. The types of texts which you may receive vary from emergency texts (such as site closure), lecture cancellations, reminders for exam results availability, to reminders for referral sessions. Further information about the SMS texting system at UWE can be found at http://www.uwe.ac.uk/its/corporate/ourpolicies/openaccess/smstextingguide.shtml.

You may also read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) which should answer some of your questions about SMS texting at UWE.

SMS opt-out

If you wish to opt out of receiving texts messages from UWE, please untick the box entitled “Accept SMS texts from UWE” under the section “SMS opt-out”. However, we do not recommend that you opt out, as it may mean that you miss out on important information from your faculty.

Please note that UWE will not be sending texts for marketing purposes. If you do receive a marketing text from UWE, it may come from the UWESU (Student Union) text messaging service. You can opt in or out from the UWESU system by visiting the UWESU web site.
