International College

UWE Bristol's International College is a joint educational partnership between UWE Bristol and Kaplan International Pathways. This partnership allows international students who don’t meet university entry requirements to study a pathway course on their way to a degree course at UWE Bristol.

UWE Bristol's International College

A pathway course at UWE Bristol's International College (UWEBIC) will provide you with the skills you need to study a degree course at UWE Bristol. As well as English language study, you will learn academic and subject-based skills to help you prepare for university.

We have three pathway options available to you: Foundation Certificate, International Year One, and Pre-Masters. If you successfully complete your pathway course at the required level with good attendance, you are guaranteed entry to your chosen undergraduate or postgraduate degree at UWE Bristol. We have flexible entry points for you to start courses throughout the year.

Out of 335 UWEBIC students, 91% felt that college staff cared about their academic success, 88% would recommend the College as a good place to study, and 90% felt that UWEBIC had prepared them well for university studies (UWEBIC finishers Student Experience Survey, 2022).

Foundation Certificate

If you're interested in our Foundation Certificate, we have two streams for this:

  • Business, Law and Social Science
  • Science and Engineering.

Successful completion of these, with good attendance, at the required level, will grant access to year 1 of the main UWE Bristol bachelor's degree. The length of your course will depend mainly on your English language ability when you start.

International Year One

Our International Year One courses have three streams you can follow, depending on your subject of interest:

  • Business
  • Computing
  • Engineering.

This undergraduate-level course will ease you into studying abroad, and combines academic preparation with year 1 of a bachelor's degree. Successful completion of an International Year One course, with good attendance, at the required level, will grant access to year 2 of the main UWE Bristol bachelor's degree.

Pre-Master's

Our Pre-Master's courses have two streams you can follow:

  • Business, Law and Social Sciences
  • Science and Engineering.

These courses provide extra support for you to gain entry and prepare for a master’s level programme.
