Fairtrade status
Our catering destinations offer you a delicious range of food that includes organic and Fairtrade products as well as carefully sourced products from independent suppliers.
In line with our policy on sustainability, and commitment to principles of fairness and equality, the University is committed to supporting, promoting and using Fairtrade goods and has worked hard to achieve accreditation.
Fairtrade foods are served at all meetings hosted by the University and the student unions and a wide range of Fairtrade products are available and prominently displayed throughout the University.
With the recent media attention surrounding the horsemeat scandal, Hospitality Services would like to make the following statement
It is the policy of the University of the West of England’s Hospitality Services, to use fresh and frozen 100% British Beef and 100% British Organic Beef in all in-house recipes.
This comes with full traceability of the food chain from nominated suppliers. We are working closely with all our suppliers to ensure all due diligence has been met on the assurance of food safety and traceability of any beef products purchased.
