Ph.D Degrees

The Department has an excellent completion rate for Ph.D.s. Our Ph.D. students are now working at Cardiff, Exeter and Salford universities as well as UWE.

Proposals in any areas of politics and international relations will be considered. We are particularly interested in supervising students in areas of staff specialization (see the staff pages). Both full-time and part-time modes of study are available.

Subjects of recently completed Ph.D.s include:

  • The Anti-Poll Tax Movement
  • Agenda-setting in environmental politics
  • Regional identity in England, Ireland and Belgium
  • Young people’s political participation
  • Local authority waste management policy
  • Women in Ulster Unionism
  • The politics of Rumanian intellectuals
