I am the Award Leader for our Masters in European Business. The Masters Programme in European Business won the Languages for Export Prize for the fourth time in 2005.

My research interests are:

Teaching

The majority of my teaching is in supervising PhD and MA students in Applied Linguistics and European Business. I teach on the following modules at post-graduate level:

  • European Business Culture
  • Intercultural Business Communication
  • Research Methods in Linguistics (Distance learning)
  • Research Portfolio in Linguistics (Distance learning)

and on the following modules at undergraduate level:

  • English in the Modern World (my part: The history of English up to 1066)
  • Research Methods in Linguistics
  • The History of Linguistic Thought
Postgraduate supervision

At present, I am the Director of Studies for three PhD students. The research topics of these students are:

  • Changes in Lexical Richness in Second Language English Academic Essays
  • Lexical Richness of Greek-Cypriot EFL Learners
  • Acquisition of Phrasal Verbs by EFL Intermediate and Advanced Learners
  • I am co-supervisor of two further PhD projects:
  • Chinese EFL Learners’ Use of Chinese and English Motion Verbs
  • Lexical Accommodation in Oral Interviews of Chinese EFL Learners    
  • Furthermore, I have been supervising more than 20 MA dissertations in European Business.
