Introduction
The University of the West of England (UWE) is a modern, growing university in the thriving city of Bristol. UWE is one of Britain's most popular universities, with more than 30,000 students and 3,000 staff and is the largest provider of higher education in the south west of England.
The University's history goes back as far as 1595, representing a long and well established tradition of first class professional education and training. The University has four campuses in and around the city of Bristol encompassing 5 faculties and teaching some 600 degree programmes across a wide range of disciplines. In addition, we also have an Associate Faculty in Gloucestershire and regional centres in Bath, Gloucestershire and Swindon. Each enjoys a varied social life of its own, but students are welcome to use the facilities of all campuses.
The Finance Department is responsible for the administration and control of the University's capital and revenue budgets and for financial reporting to external bodies (such as HEFCE) and internally to managers and budget holders.
The Purchasing Team offers professional purchasing support to all University employees and aims to enable the University to make maximum use of its non-pay resources in order that we may minimise purchasing costs and achieve value for money in the delivery of goods and services to our internal customers, whilst contributing to the overall strategic goals of the University.
