Safety Information

As part of Facilities, Estates is commited to ensuring the safety of all staff, students and visitors whilst on any part of our campuses and remote sites. All building and repair work for the University of the West of England is supervised and controlled by our own team of technical surveyors and electrical and mechanical engineers. All the Estates contractors have attended the University's Health, Safety and Asbestos seminar and conform to all Health, Safety and Construction guidelines and law.

The University's Health and Safety Policy of 'DON'T WALK BY' is fully supported by the Estates Department and should you discover any faults or areas of concern you are requested to report them via the Facilities Helpdesk on telephone number 222 or by using the Work Request System.     The Estates Services of the University of the West of England recognises that it owes a duty of care to contractors and those who may be affected by construction work, as well as to its own employees.  It is committed to ensuring that systems are in place to ensure the effective planning and safe delivery of projects.  To achieve this, the Estates Services will commit adequate resources to the development, implementation, review and amendment of procedures governing the management of contractors.
