New Student Union Project

Aims:
To deliver a dedicated, centrally located, single building to house all UWESU trading outlets, all support staff and provide a suitable social and leisure environment for all users.
To deliver a building with a gross internal floor area of circa 3000m2, consolidating and optimising services provided at other campuses and demonstrating innovation in building technologies and environmental performance.

Objectives:
Construction of a new Students’ Union building within the parameters of the aims and subsequent relocation of all staff and functions into the new space.

Benefits:
New building will be fit for purpose and competitive with attractive SU facilities provided by other HE institutions.
Improvement to the student experience and satisfaction will help retention of student numbers
Improvement of UWE's market share of student applications – the new SU building will be a feature of future Open Day tours.
Sustainable, energy efficient building will lower running costs.
Existing F Block area will become vacant for refurbishment.

Timescale: Completion and handover by September 2014.
