Converting Microsoft Office 2007 documents to PDF format
Please note that Active PDF has now been decommissioned due to the ability of Microsoft Office 2007 (and other free online software) to easily produce PDF documents.
Documents created using Microsoft Office 2007 programs (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc) can easily be converted to the web-friendly PDF format. To do this in each program please follow these instructions:
- Select the 'Office Button' in the program (the top-left circular button with various coloured boxes)
- Go down to 'Save As'
- Then across to 'PDF or XPS'
- Under 'Save as Type' select 'PDF' and any PDF options you think relevant. (These are normally already selected and you just need to press 'Publish')
(Please note that the PowerPoint conversion will display 1 slide per page).

Converting Microsoft PowerPoint presentations into FLASH movies
PowerPoint presentations are normally large files (specially if they are animated and/or narrated). If you want to upload these presentations to the internet (inc. Blackboard) it may be a good idea to convert the presentation to a FLASH movie format (producing a much smaller file while keeping the animations and narration).
The tool available for this conversion is called Hughes Presenter
