What happend to Hughes Presenter and Pointecast?
Pointecast was superseded by Hughes Presenter and discontinued. We then had 300 Hughes Presenter licences that were deployed to members of staff on request. We now feel that Hughes aren't offering adequate support for the Presenter and we're not able to release any more licences for UWE use. We now suggest that new users might wish to use Adobe Presenter. (We still have guidance for those wishing to continue using Hughes Presenter).
What should you do if you still want a copy of Hughes Presenter?
We're now suggesting that staff may wish to acquire Adobe Presenter instead of Hughes. It has similar (but improved) functionality and is better supported, however, if you still want to use Hughes then you may wish to:
- Find someone with Hughes installed and who no longer wishes to use it. We can then 'release' the code from their installation and use that code for a new installation that you would download. Contact us if you need further help with this.
- You could visit us here at the Education Innovation Centre where we have laptops with Hughes installed. You may wish to record the narration separately (e.g. privately at home) and bring the sound files into our office so you don't have to do the recording etc with people around.
