Uploading Presenter files to Blackboard
There are 3 stages to uploading your presentation to Blackboard and getting it to work:
- Publish the presentation as a zip file
- Upload the zip file to the content collection
- Linking from the course to the uploaded zip file in the content collection
Publishing the presentation as a zip file
You need to create a zip file (a compressed package file) which bundles all the components of your presentation together. You can do this by:
- Click the Presenter’s Publish button.
- Select ‘Save output in a zip file’.
- Click ‘Publish’.
A message pops up… ‘Presentation already exists!’ –
- Click ‘yes’ to overwrite the previous version you made.
- Click ‘open folder’ –
You should see your presentation zip file in the folder you specified.
- When your presentation is ready, select Publish on the Hughes Presenter menu
- In the pop-up make sure the box called Save output in a Zip file is ticked
- Make any other changes that you wish before selecting Publish
Upload the zip file to the content collection
- Within the Control Panel select Content Collection.
- Select the Course ID and this will take you into the Course Files area.
- Select Create Folder and add a new folder to contain your package.
- Open the new folder you have just created and select Upload.
- Select Upload Package from the drop down list and the Upload Package page will be displayed.
- Browse to where you have your Hughes zip file is saved on your computer and select Open.
- The path to your package will now be displayed in the File field on the Upload Package page.
- Optionally select to overwrite existing files with the same name or change the Select File Name Encoding option.
- Select submit and your zip file/package will then be extracted into the folder.

Linking from the course to the uploaded zip file in the content collection
- From within your course, navigate to the content area where you want to link to the uploaded zip file.
- Select Build Content and then File.
- Select Browse Content Collection and the Course Files area will be displayed.
- Navigate to and open the folder where you uploaded your zip package.
- Select the radio button to the left of the page which you want to be your entry point (the page which students arrive at when opening the link) this will normally be called index.html
- Select Submit.
- There will now be some Manage Permissions options available. The default option of Give users Read access to all files and folders in the folder should be fine if your package is in its own folder.
- Optionally change the Name to something more meaningful.
- Set the other options as appropriate.
- Select Submit.
