Our Mann in Russia
CICC Director George Mann was invited to present a paper at the Moscow State Linguistic University annual conference (December 15th - 22nd, 2007) at Svetlogorsk, in Kaliningrad. The conference was jointly hosted by UWE partner institution, the Immanuel Kant Sate University of Russia (IKSUR). The theme of the conference was the integration of the Russian Federation into the European Higher Education and Research Area, and George presented a paper entitled "Modularity in UK Higher Education". Throughout the Russian Federation there is considerable interest in the impact of the Bologna Process, which seeks, in a number of ways, to facilitate a pan-European approach to delivery and quality control in the university sector. The Bologna initiatives also seek to create more transparency in terms of university courses and qualifications, and to increase both employability and mobility.
