The University of the West of England's Air Quality Research Group is undertaking a research project into the process of declaring and designating Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) in the United Kingdom.  The project is to consider the way in which the scientific assessment process of identifying areas of air quality objective exceedances (AQOs) actually translates into the designation of AQMAs following the political decision-making process involved.
