Air quality
management may fall within the remit of the
'Environment' but the sources of air pollution
and ultimately the mitigation and
adaptation policies to be implemented are often
managed and always influenced by various other
policy arenas e.g. transport, land use plans,
industrial policy.
Research,
technical expertise and experience within the team results
in and builds upon the Air Quality Management Resource Centre's
inherent understanding of the process of policy development
and the requirements for sound policy formulation. AQMRC has a
long standing history of working closely with
the
Department for Environment Food and Rural
Affairs (Defra) and the associated
Environmental Departments in the Devolved
Administrations (Welsh
Assembly Government,
Scottish Government,
and
Department of the Environment Northern Ireland) providing
scientific underpinning for policy on the management
and future developments of the
Local Air Quality Management process. Staff
at the AQMRC have also worked closely with
government assisting policy evaluation in other
national policy areas such as transport, public
health, agriculture, waste management and
industry. Click

Dedicated to
information dissemination and knowledge exchange, AQMRC has utilised its experiences in
the UK to assist in the development of various
air quality management frameworks elsewhere in the
world including
South Africa and
Thailand. Staff at AQMRC combine both the
experiences and knowledge from relevant
research and local, national and international
scale projects to provide specialist policy
advice and technical guidance. This combination
of experience in active consultancy projects and
high profile research places AQMRC in a unique
position to provide support to all spheres of international, national and local
governance.
